Most people haven't heard of hybrid CPR certification. It splits the course into two parts: you complete the knowledge and video portions online at your own pace, then attend a short in-person skills check — usually 60 to 90 minutes. You walk away with the same HSI certification as a fully in-person class.

Common Certification Questions
HSI CPR and First Aid certification is valid for 2 years. After your course you'll receive a digital card by email from HSI. Physical replacement cards are available for $10 if needed.
Yes. Hybrid certification earns the same HSI credential as a fully in-person class and is accepted by Alaska employers, OSHA (AKOSH), and most healthcare facilities. The U.S. Coast Guard also accepts it for maritime compliance. If your employer specifically requires a fully in-person class, choose that option — but most do not have that restriction.
Federal regulations (Code of Federal Regulations, Title 46) require vessel operators and marine fisheries personnel to hold Adult First Aid, CPR, and AED certification. Both hybrid ($85) and in-person ($125) formats meet the U.S. Coast Guard requirement.
Both earn the same 2-year HSI certification. Hybrid splits into two parts — online knowledge and videos at your own pace, then a short in-person skills check (60 to 90 minutes) in Sitka. Fully in-person covers everything in a single 3 to 5 hour session. Hybrid is $85/person; in-person is $125/person.
Federal OSHA and AKOSH require Adult First Aid, CPR, and AED certification for most general industry workers and designated workplace first responders. This is covered by the Adult First Aid | CPR AED course, available in both hybrid ($85) and in-person ($125) formats.
